How baller is that? I have an honest to goodness chiptunes album! Of course, if you were at the release party you probably already know this. If you weren’t at the party then you missed one of the greatest shows I’ve gotten to be a part of, so I’m sorry about that. It won’t happen again. I’ll only play rad chiptune shows when you can make it ^_^
In other news I have a bit of a campaign to prove that I do in fact like dubstep. While it may not be chiptunes, it’s like the new rock and roll. You’d think just saying that would be enough, but not for my friend. He needs me to get 200 thousand views on this video before he’ll believe me.

Whutup doods? So right now I’m working on a new chiptune album for you guys. I’d say that’s pretty cool of me, right? The funny thing about making a chiptune album is that they take up a crud ton of time, apart from the podcast I really haven’t sat down to let you all know what’s going on.
September saw the release of my previous two chiptune albums:
GYOMS:
This is a five track album born entirely out of the nefarious AAC con-flu (Though, I’m fairly certain that particular flu was not necessarily localized just to that convention) and a few old files from 2007. While I’d say the first two tracks are my favorite – since I’m rather distinctly an ambient and soundtrack fan – I think the whole album’s pretty chill. Pictures in an Orchard
This album was actually a collaborative effort between myself and the Third Estate artist collective. The idea was to go out to an orchard with a bunch of creative people and just create art. First I wrote a bunch of music for piano, clarinet, and tuba. Next, I reconfigured my chiptune setup and laptop so I could trigger each individual instrument at any given time (and/or do some improvisation with those instruments) as well as record anyone who decided to play an instrument, or sing or talk or just walk by the microphones. The result is a nine track album full of acoustic jamming and the ambient sound track of the world. My favorite track is number nine. It’s funny because I didn’t make much of a contribution to it musically, but I really feel like it sums up my favorite parts of the weekend. Like I said, I’m working on a new chiptune album. I’ll be honest with you guys, it’s not for the 8 bit music purists. The main instrumentation is definitely going to be coming out of a gameboy or an old skool NES, but since it’s a studio album I figure I’d go all out on style with some live instruments and maybe even a few guest appearances from the many friends of nickelPUNK.
